Hobbies helps us only to pass our time meaningfully but also develop our creativity. To develop this creativity among students, Springdales offers an array of hobbies. One hour a day, after the morning assembly is allotted for hobby classes. Students choose any one hobby of their choice and hone their skills in that particular field under the guidance of professional trainers.
Dance is an expression of emotions natural to man. This medium is utilised to give vent to the feelings of joys, sorrows, anger , bliss and many more. The children who choose this hobby are taught classical , western or folk dance , according to the choice of the students. Children can be seen enjoying this hobby to the fullest.
Music is the voice of soul. It embeds our life, weaving its beauty and emotion through our thoughts and activities. Music classes aim at discovering talents and nurturing them to the fullest. For this, the school maintains the faculties drawn from different genre of art. Vocals, percussions, string and wind instruments all are regular feature of the music classes. Our students have performed at various musical competitions and won accolades.
3. ART AND CRAFT
At Springdales, Art and Craft supplements academics. As art enhances creativity in an individual , Springdales offers a complete package of Art and Craft to the students. Students imagination blended with innovation produces creative items of good worth.
Sports not only keep us physically fit but also mentally alert. They instill in students the most desirable virtues like discipline, spirit of competition, tolerance and punctuality. Keeping this dictum in mind, various games like cricket , hockey, football, boxing, basketball, volleyball are made an integral part of the school activities. In these sessions students are prepared for State and national level competitions. Thus, the spark of games and sports is kept ignited in school throughout the year, which enables the children to learn the lesson of mutual co-operation & discipline. Matches and tournaments are held to put to test the skill, stamina and hardship of the participants. Medals, shields and cups are awarded to the players for achieving excellence in their performance.
Gatka is a weapon based martial arts associated with the Punjab region. It is primarily an armed fighting style, which is both a sport as well as a ritual. It was started by Guru Gobind Singh ji to enable his army to defend themselves against the British. At Springdales, this martial art is taught to the interested students to keep the age old tradition alive.
Moving on the hard floor with roller skates is one such recreational activity which children enjoy a lot. The fun and excitement involved in this sport is amazing. It helps the children to maintain balance and also strengthen their leg muscles. There is big skating rink in the school for this purpose and a professional trainer teaches the right technique of skating to students.
7. JUDO – KARATE
It uses punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes and open hand techniques such as knife hands spear hand and palm heel strikes. It initially started in Japan but Martial arts movies of the 1960s and 70s popularised this art across the world.Springdales cater to the need of those students who want to practice it for self-perfection, self-defense and as a sport.
Science has metamorphosed the very made of our daily life. It has stepped up the tempo of life, and has given us comforts and amenities undreamt of our forefathers. Computer , washing machine, motor car, refrigerators and many others show how much we can do with minimum labour. There is lot we owe to science in the affairs of our daily life. To develop the interest of more and more children in scientific pursuits, science has been introduced as a hobby at Springdales. This hobby arouse the curiosity of students regarding experiments, activities and fun games related to science and make them aware of the scientific concepts related to our day to day life.
